Malacca Blue on White Sham

The sea routes discovered in the 15th century by the navigator Vasco da Gama, linking Europe to the East Indies, influenced European culture with exotic textiles and ceramics. The inspiration from porcelain, with delicate floral details, because an unavoidable must-have. The Indian Ocean, the China Sea, the Strait of Malacca, the Bay of Bengal – all exotic names that inspire dreams. Malacca shams have a blue-on-white design of Eglantine and Dahlia flowers, done in a painterly way, on one side and a stylized earthy ware design on the other side and embellished with a hand guided piping finishing detail.
